Cabbage is a leafy green that grows well in the wintertime. Due to their potential size and weight, it is recommended to grow cabbage in media beds. With a high nutrient demand, cabbage is not recommended for newly established systems.

High concentrations of phosphorus and potassium are required for growth and are often not present in systems younger than 5 months.

Transplantation can occur after at least 4 true leaves have grown and seedlings meet a height of 15cm. Careful monitoring will be necessary due to high incidences of pests.

Once heads have grown to at least 10cm in diameter they are likely ready to harvest, though some varieties are harvested at larger sizes.
