I am in love with the idea of food that doesn't come from a package. Vegetables I can pick straight off the vine and raw meat that never sees a freezer. But my community is made up of lower income families. We don't have enough money to start an organic farm or buy produce at the supermarket every week. I started researching technology and farming methods for affordable options, but it's hard to find information on what is best for low-income neighborhoods without any resources like mine. That's when I learned about aquaponics, hydroponics and aquaculture - sustainable ways of producing fresh healthy food without taking up space or requiring additional inputs (like fertilizer). Ever since then I have been dedicated to empowering next-gen farmers.
